The Holders and a Griza go to U2

We obtained U2 tickets forever ago and last night we actually got to use them! After knowing our little W was okay from his run in with the egg that shall remain nameless, we had our favorite babysitter Sarah come over and keep him while these two nerds pictured above went out for a concert evening. In our posse we had Erik Graham who is always up for a good concert experience. He was nice enough to take some stage shots...so thanks for these E!

The stage set up with very impressive and there were a TON of people...probably around 44K. Florence and the Machine opened up for U2 and they were AMAZING! I have a girl crush on Florence...holy moly that girl has pipes! Wow...just amazed at how awesome they were.

This screen was pretty interesting and informative. It showed current numbers of a lot of different things: Number of cigarettes smoked, unemployment rates, days left of coal, etc. Pretty neat stuff.
U2...wow. To be honest, I was kind of on the fence about going to this show. I am not a fan of huge shows outside in hot weather. I'm getting old, but I digress. One of my best friends, the amazing Angela Franchino, told me that she recently saw them on tour and it was one of the best shows she had ever seen in her life. That's a big statement...Angela loves music. Cards down...I'm all in. I am SO glad I went. It was awesome. This big production was amazing...the lights, the stage, the sound, the effects, the amount of crazy songs I forgot U2 sang that I knew. I loved every minute of it and so did Chad. He really has loved U2 forever. Here are Erik and Chad being happy...Chad looks really happy! Ha!
They played homage to Nashville with a Johnny Cash song. Not sure which one...I am terrible at remembering things like that, but I did write down a quote from Bono that I thought was awesome:

"In a city of masters we will remain students" - Bono

I love living in Nashville and I love how all the musicians that play here respect it's heritage.

Anywhoo...we had a great time! Little Dubs got to love on his favorite pregnant babysitter who is due in 4 weeks and momma and daddy got some fun time. While I'm on a lovefest post here I will say that concerts truly recharge me. The lyrics to "It's a Beautiful Day" were in inspiring and the Holders would like to say thanks U2, you made our night.

Jealous!!!! Did y'all purchase your tickets in early 2010? So when are the Holder's coming to East Tennessee to play in the river & in the mountains? If y'all can stay for a noon trip on a Sunday, we can float the Ocoee for $10/head. Y'all can bring Jack & Anna, or another couple if you like as well. Cheers cats!
